November 13 Weekly Worship ServiceI've added some pics that give you a flavor for my Sunday Service at St. Agnes Church. Up in the Chior Loft, we have a bird's eye view. I truly enjoy my time in the loft. A chance to play my flute with a spritual flair. The cantor (Becky), organist (Monica) and I strive to create a musical experiance that furthers the word.
As you can tell, its a tight space. If there are more than six singers, we must all take turns breathing.
Its a beautiful pipe organ. Please check out the organ's keyboard shot and all of the pipes that can be seen from the floor. The organ and flute make an outstanding combination. When you think about it, the flute is just another pipe with me adding the air and my fingers changing the pipe's length.....
I included a shot of the stain glass window that is just above out heads. This adds even more inspiration. As a check on your observation skills. Did you see my "Dunkin Donut's cup? How about the Pope's picture?
My flute and music sitting on the ledge of "The Loft"
overlooking the parish's worshippers.
March 26 Yesterday's MassWhat an experiance. As everyone went up to venerate the cross, I played my clainet. It sounded great. I was afraid, after losing my original mouthpiece (dropped it the other day and chiped it), my sound would suffer. But, I blew the Buffet mouthpiece that came with the horn, it worked fine. I always feel that the clarinet (being made of wood) is the perfect instrument for the veneration of the wood that crucified Christ. It was very moving. I can only hope that my tones help to make this a beautiful service. March 25 Easter weekend in full swing.Last nights Mass went well. My flute didn't let me down. We had a good turn out. I felt in the groove. Tonight I'll add a little clarinet. Playing with the idea of bringing my sax. This time of the year is a little slow. Later in the year, I've got gigs stacked up. I turned down three musicals this year. Mighty Goliath Players in Avon lake, The Palace in Lorain and a high school show in Norwalk. What bad luck. I love to do shows. No money (or very little), but live theater offers a completely different musical experiance. With the pit, dancers and sings going, any thing can happen. You just never know. March 20 Forgot My FluteMade it to church, climbed up into the chior loft and realized I forgot my flute. I keep in my case with the music. Quess, I'm getting old. Well, I went back home to get it. I hate the thought of not playing during the mass. Well, I was about 1/2 hour late, but I did get to play. My daughter gave me an assignment, fix her suitcase. She will be traveling to North Carolina next week. One of the feet on the suitcase fell off. Sounds like a job for "super dad". That's OK, what else are dad's for.
